Supporting the Milpa
Milpa comes from the Nahauat word milli (“sown field”) and pan (“on top of”) which refers to the farming practice used throughout Mesoamerica. We honor the Milpa system by tending the Three Sisters: corn, squash, and beans.
Tending can look like:
Seeding
Transplanting
Tending to the Soil
Harvesting
Processing the corn
Most work begins in April with 1 - 2 days a month until October.
Hours are usually
9am - 3pm.
